Nearly a month after the CBI filed its closure report in the Bofors case, the son of accused Win Chadha,Hersh Washesher Chadha on Thursday filed a petition before a Tis Hazari court, seeking release of his fathers documents and articles the CBI had seized in May 1997. Submitting the petition before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav,Dubai-based Hersh claimed that since the court accepted CBIs plea to withdraw the case, the documents should be released. Following the CBI petition, the court had discharged Italian Ottavio Quattrocchi from the pay-off case on March 4. Noting that no criminal proceedings are pending against any person now,Hersh added that he is the only legal heir of Win Chadha and is thus entitled to take possession of all his documents seized. The CBI seized a number of documents and articles from the office and residence of late Washesher Nath Chadha on May 1,1997,by way of executing number of seizure memos. These documents/articles belong to late Washesher Nath Chadha and his family members including the applicant, the petition read.
