Arrested IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatts wife has written to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram seeking his help and blamed Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Sudhir Sinha for her husbands troubles. Shweta Bhatt has also urged the Home Minister not to grant an extension to Sinha.

They hold out the carrot of extension to these officers and make them do all the dirty work. So,I have requested Chidambaram to be careful, she told The Indian Express. Sinha is already on a three-month extension following his retirement in July. A fresh application for further extension has been reportedly moved to the Centre.

Whatever treatment is being meted out to my husband in jail, such as putting him in a dingy cell or posting the rudest of cops to guard him,was all written and directed by Sudhir Sinha, Shweta told reporters. She said she has written to Chidambaram as her earlier letter to DGP Chitranjan Singh,Sinha and the judicial magistrate evoked no response.

In her letter to Chidambram,Shweta has stated that she apprehends danger to Bhatts life from a vindictive administration. Sanjiv has strong apprehension of being physically ill-treated and danger to his life, she has said.
