Did Tiger Woodss dream die in the car crash?
The Telegraph discusses the Tiger Woods controversy and its fallout on the golf course. Someone who dominated his sport to almost ridiculous levels suddenly appears vulnerable. Will this public setback affect Tigers pursuit of golfs holy grail, the 18-Major record of Jack Nicklaus, asks Jim White. The dream that Tiger has held since the time his father Earl brought him up to be the greatest golfer in the world and one that had seemed tantalisingly within reach now appears to have died in Tiger Woodss car crash. If this is how he deals with adversity,it can only provide succour to his rivals. For years, they were convinced that nothing could ruffle the Tiger fur8230;In this most mentally charged of sports,no longer need they worry that Woodss mere presence is enough to guarantee him victory, White says.
FINANCIAL TIMES
Woods an asset even with transgressions
Going by the immediate reaction of Woodss many sponsors, the biggest sporting brand in the world does not look like hes losing that status anytime soon, according to the Financial Times. One by one,Nike,EA Sports,Gillette,NetJets and Gatorade have embraced Mr Woods and declared that their relationship continues, says Roger Blitz. And that is not surprising, according to FT because Woods and his advisers have built his image around many values, such as his diversity, his connection with young people, his appeal to C-level executives and his well-spoken demeanour; Christian morality is not one of them. So unless his star actually begins to dip on the golf course, sponsors will stick with him, says Blitz.
THE GUARDIAN
The race is on to make millions from the disgrace of Tiger Woods
Paul Harris writes of a new industry exploiting the infamous episode, one that has dominated much of the American pop cultural landscape, sending magazines whizzing off the news-stands and gluing viewers to their televisions: all,of course, earning millions for a beleaguered media industry. Celebrity-crazy publications have been rumoured to be offering millions of dollars to the supposed women in Woodss life for their stories; the Woods camp,in turn, paying them to keep shut. And then, the talk of pre-nuptial and post-scandal agreements between Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren. Golfing genius made Woods a multi-millionaire. But in the high-octane world of sporting celebrity,it appears it has also helped make him a legitimate target for one of the most spectacular public comeuppances in modern times, writes Harris.

Tigers troubles widen his distance from Blacks
The magazine talks of how the episode has meant that Woodss already tenuous standing among many blacks took a beating. A community that had already been unhappy about his marriage to Nordegren,a blonde Swedish woman, and of Woods disclaiming his black ancestry by calling himself Cablinasian Caucasian, black,Indian and Asian now has more reasons to shake their collective heads. There are two layers of suspicion toward him, the article quotes Carmen Van Kerkhove, the founder of the race-meets-pop-culture blog Racialicious,as saying. One toward the apparent pattern in the race of his partners, and the second in the way he sees himself8230;People have been giving him the side-eye for a while.
