Warrant against MP Chief Secy stayed

The BJP government on Wednesday accused the Congress party of damaging the federal structure by misusing constitutional bodies like the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to settle political scores. The Commission had on Monday issued an arrest warrant against the state Chief Secretary Avani Vaish asking Bhopals police chief to produce him before it on Wednesday.

The state governments counter-attack followed an order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday that stayed the operation of the arrest warrant.

In the High Court,Advocate General R D Jain argued that the Commission did not follow rules before issuing the arrest warrant.
