A 55-year-old woman on Friday identified Sriram Mills scion Abhishek Kasliwal as the youth who raped her in March 2006.

During an in-camera trial on Friday, the victim told the court of sessions judge Malpani Pawar that Kasliwal introduced himself to her as one Vickey Malhotra and then went on to rape her. The victim, dressed in a burqa, came to the court along with two other women.

Public prosecutor Usha Kiran Makasare confirmed that the victim had stuck to her testimony and recalled the entire incident as she had stated in the original complaint. In a three-hour examination, the victim gave minute-by-minute details of the incident. She was confident and did not fumble at any point during the testimony, said Makasare.

According to the police,on March 11,2006,Kasliwal had offered the victim a lift from Colaba to Mumbai Central.

However,on the way,he allegedly offered her a drink containing sedatives which made the victim unconscious. Kasliwal then drove her to a deserted mill compound where he allegedly raped her and later dropped her near the Fountain area.

Kasliwal was arrested, charged with rape, assault and criminal intimidation. He was granted bail by the High Court in April 2006. The court, however, barred him from entering the city limits. He was allowed to enter Mumbai only in May 2009.

The police filed a chargesheet in June 2006,in which they cited statements of witnesses who saw Kasliwal enter the mill with the victim. The prosecution also submitted a list of 48 witnesses, including the victim.
