Vahanvati gets another term as AG

The President re-appointed Attorney General Goolam E Vahanvati for a second three-year term

The President on Monday re-appointed Attorney General Goolam E Vahanvati for a second three-year term. According to information,the decision came on the recommendation of the Prime Minister and the Union Law Ministry. Vahanvatis current term ends in June.

During his current tenure,Vahanvati defended the government in many crucial matters,including those relating to the appointment of Central Vigilance Commissioner,Lafarge illegal mining,Karnataka illegal mining,Right to Education Act,Chief of Army Staff General V K Singhs date of birth.

There are also indications that the government may go for a reshuffle of some additional solicitors general.
