Top 8 firms add over Rs 26k cr in m-cap

The market capitalisation (m-cap) of TCS swelled by Rs 4,765.79 crore to Rs 2,28,023.59 crore.

Giving a robust start to the new year,the market capitalisation of eight of the country’s top-10 firms advanced by over Rs 26,000 crore during the last week of 2010.

The year 2010 was significant for the state-run firm Coal India Ltd (CIL),which earned a place for itself in the coveted club of India’s top-10 most-valued firm in terms of their market valuations.

Bidding goodbye to the last year of the decade,all the eight firms,including IT czars TCS and Infosys Technologies,added a total sum of Rs 26,636.60 crore to their cumulative market capitalisation during the past week.

The market capitalisation (m-cap) of TCS swelled by Rs 4,765.79 crore to Rs 2,28,023.59 crore and became the top gainer in the list.

Similarly,the IT bellwether Infosys added Rs 4,418.97 crore to its kitty to take its market valuation to Rs 1,97,784.34 crore.
