Arguing that the people of Jharkhand deserved a stable government,BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday stressed that “there’s a difference between conviction and strategy,” suggesting that even if his party didn’t agree with the politics of the JMM,the government in the tribal state would be run on the basis of a common minimum programme “for full term”.

To a question as to what his party would do if the murder case against Shibu Soren goes against him in the Supreme Court,Gadkari said: “We will cross the bridge when we come to it.”

Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar, meanwhile, defended the absence of top party leaders from the swearing-in ceremony in Ranchi, saying Yashwant Sinha and Karuna Shukla were among the central leaders present there.
