Expelled Samajwadi Party leader and president of the newly-floated Rastriya Lok Manch,Amar Singh, claimed on Sunday that he was facing threats to his life from SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Mayawati.

“I have received life threats from both Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav,” Singh told mediapersons in Lucknow after inaugurating his new office.

On the SP chief reportedly writing a letter to the Centre to cut down his security,Singh said: “It is a matter of joy for me that Yadav is neither the home minister nor the Prime Minister. Mulayam himself has been threatened by Mayawati, and I have received threats from both of them.”

Singh also raised the demand for a separate Purvanchal state and said he would launch 400-km padyatra from Allahabad to Gorakhpur to press for the demand.

“Eastern UP should be declared as a separate Purvanchal state. Chief Minister Mayawati should get a proposal of a separate state passed in the House and send it to the Centre. Merely writing a letter to the Prime Minister (by Mayawati) would not serve the purpose,” said Singh.

Contrary to SP’s stance against English and computer education,Singh said he would promote both in villages and soon appoint teachers in 27.
