Jalebee Cartel talks about judging a DJ talent hunt and their latest album

Jalebee Cartel talks about judging a DJ talent hunt and their latest albumTHINGS couldnt be busier, and more exciting for Jalebee Cartel. The popular electronic-techno band released,on June 10, their latest album,EthnoTechno-Revolution Rising Vol. 1 by Universal Music India. Their last album,One Point Nothing which released in 2009 did fabulously well, and Jalebee Cartel is hoping the success carries into the new album as well.

Our album has found a place in the music stores among all the zillion Bollywood CDs,which is a good start. says Arjun Vagale, who does the laptop mixing and scratching for the band. The other members are Ashvin Mani Sharma,Ash Roy and G-Force Arjun.
The new album sees the band collaborate with other artistes. The music is not trance but a thrilling combination of underground dance scene, drum and bass, dubstep, thriving electro and some chillout music. Also featured are heart-throbbing tracks by the tabla wizard Karsh Kale,as well as DJ Cheb iSabbah.

Vagale appreciates Universals work and says,They give diverse artistes a chance and it was simply great working with them.
The Delhi-based band is well-respected by aspiring DJs and the techno music world,so it shouldnt be a surprise that theyre judging the Kingfisher Ultra Soul Flyp,a DJs talent hunt across three Indian cities Mumbai,Bengaluru and Pune. Sharma, who works on the laptop and synthesizer, says,We had a nice time judging them as we discovered fantastic talent.

On being asked about the qualities on the basis of which they judge,Vagale explains,An overall combination of music, techno and presentation skills are the prime factors on which a good DJ should be judged. They had a terrific experience with Soul Flyp, adds Ash Roy,the bands vocalist, who explains,There are many DJ hunt shows but they usually have poor quality contestants. Vagale adds,They could have a better quality if the hunts are conducted more professionally, as he hints at talent lying dormant in the country.
After their round of mentoring in Bengaluru and Pune,a trip abroad is on the cards. Roy reveals,Well be off to Europe for the summer and will be back only by end of August. So,it is two months to go till we get to hear of something new happening from Jalebee Cartel.
