Temasek may pick stake in GMR power arm

Singapore’s Temasek is in discussions with India’s GMR Infrastructure to buy a stake in its energy unit.

Singapore’s Temasek Holdings is in advanced discussions with India’s GMR Infrastructure to buy a stake in its energy unit,which operates three power plants with a combined capacity of 822mw.

Temasek managing director for investment Wong Kim Yin said the investment in GMR would focus its exposure in Indian power market. He,however,declined to elaborate on the amount of potential investment.

Temasek is also speaking with “a number” of other Indian companies about energy investments,Singapore Radio “93.8 Live” cited Wong as saying on the sidelines of the Power & Electricity World Asia Conference.
