Yolkshire
My gameplan
Yolkshire is an egg-speciality restaurant. Our menu consists of about 75-80 per cent eggs-only dishes. We want to change the concept that eggs are eaten only for breakfast. Weve ensured that our food tastes good and is healthy at the same time. If requested,we do use Omega 3 eggs which have higher nutrient value.
The best advice I got8230;
Dont be scared. Ideas dont matter,execution matters. Dont worry about money.
The defining moment
My first project,TheTossedSalad.com,which is still in its nascent stage got recognised as a credible source of reviews and started being invited to review restaurants,etc. That was what got me on board as a founding partner at Yolkshire.
What keeps me awake at night
HR,in this industry,and Marketing are the biggest hurdles. I keep hoping all our employees turn up the next day. Our raw materials are fresh,hence need to be consumed as soon as possible. So a decrease in our footfall makes us nervous. And to top that,the rains these days deter a lot of people from stepping out of the house.
I thought I would give up 8230;
When friends tell me theyre going on so and so trip,does make me want to leave everything,pick my bags and get lost in India. But seriously, were still very young to come across that thought. The restaurant business takes at least 18-24 months to reach a break-even point. Weve managed to reach a steady sales number for now.
My word of advice for others8230;
Start early,fail early. I sincerely believe failure is the road to success since you strike off one thing not to do from the to-do list. Share your ideas,no ones going to steal them. And anyway,execution is what matters finally. And yes,be utterly shameless about everything.
