Sun Pharma,Coal India stocks surge

Sun Pharma and Coal India surged after the exchange said it will include these two stocks in the BSE Sensex from August 8.

Defying the weak broader market sentiment,shares of Sun Pharmaceutical and Coal India rose by 3 per cent each on the BSE on Monday,after the exchange said it will include these two stocks in the BSE Sensex from August 8,2011.

Shares of Sun Pharma went up by three per cent to touch an early high of Rs 493 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE),while Coal India touched an early peak of Rs 405.95,up 3 per cent from the previous close.

Coal India and Sun Pharma will replace two Anil Ambani group firms — Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Communications in Sensex from August 8,2011.

The announcement was made after market hours on Friday.

Coal India shares have been doing well since the company was listed in November last year and is the second most valued firm after Reliance Industries.

Meanwhile,the BSE crucial index Sensex was trading down by 202.26 points at 17,668.27 at 1204 hours.
