Such visits can complicate issues: China

China on Saturday reacted sharply to Defence Minister A K Antonys visit to Arunachal Pradesh early this week,saying such actions could complicate the border dispute. India dismissed it as a routine reaction from Beijing.

Commenting on Antonys visit,Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei asked India to work with China to maintain peace and stability in border areas, state-run Xinhua news agency reported Saturday.

China,Hong said,was seeking a fair and rational solution to the Sino-Indian border issues,including disputes regarding the eastern section,through equal and friendly negotiations.

So it was essential,he added,that India refrain from taking any action that could complicate the issue.

Antony was in Arunachal on February 20 for the states Silver Jubilee celebrations.

We are aware of the challenges which people living in border areas face and it is our collective duty to ensure our border areas are developed as any other part of the country, he had said in Itanagar.

He had also said that since Arunachal was a sensitive state,a secure,non-porous international border must continue to be the topmost priority for the Centre.

Arunachalees have always been known to be fiercely patriotic and yield to none in their love for the motherland, he had said.
