Jammu and kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday,emphasised the need to further strengthen civil-military liaison for speedy and amicable redressal of issues,despite differences in stances held by the Army and civil administration on various issues,by saying working in tandem acts as a catalyst to find workable solutions.
Chairing a civil-military conference at Nagrota near Jammu,he expressed his appreciation of the Indian Armys role in protecting the country and safeguarding the people from internal and external threats while also rendering invaluable service during calamities.
During the meeting,topics pertaining issues such as human welfare,ex-gratia relief,de-mining,construction of roads,acquisition of land and development of infrastructure were discussed.
Subjects concerning grant of tax relief and enhancement of financial assistance to ex-servicemen who have participated in World War-II were also tabled. Omar approved enhancing financial assistance of participants of World War-II and their widows from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month .
Omar also constituted a committee headed by the chief secretary to look into various land related cases. In the case of the Tosha Maidan firing range,it was decided that a committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary will look into the matter.
