People may continue to call him Kakaji as a sheer habit but Akali Dal president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has emerged as an ace practitioner of realpolitik. Finding some important party leaders cold towards the party poll campaign in Delhi due to the choice of candidates,he summoned them and made it clear that they would be persona non grata with him if they lost. Strong words these,but all of them immediately fell in line. Having registered the party victory in Punjab Assembly polls and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee earlier,Badal Jr is clearly determined to continue the winning spree.

ON A SONG
Having made his debut as a Bollywood lyricist with the Hindi movie Bandook,Law Minister Kapil Sibal is now on a roll. It is learnt that his lyrics are being set to tune for the next sequel of Hera-Pheri. That apart,his songs have been picked up by a range of music composers. From Adnan Sami to Pritam and Lalit,Sibals songs will feature across a number of Hindi movies soon. The minister is also quite a poet and has two anthologies to his credit.
SPECIAL MEASURES
Ever since a group of visually-challenged children visiting the Parliament House had been seen trying to feel the things around by only touching them,the Lok Sabha Secretariat has been on the look-out for measures to reach out to the requirements of special people. For instance,it has acquired certificates,given to visiting children,which are customised for the visually-challenged. The wordage is in braille and the monogram of the Parliament House can be felt by hand. Now,preparations are underway at the Parliament House museum to put out exhibit descriptions in braille as well.
REACHING OUT
With the poll season having kicked in,Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed,the recently appointed chairman of the AICC minority department,has issued a circular to his department to ensure participation of all religious minority communities in functions organised by it. He has specified that minorities is a larger term and there are other minorities besides Muslims,all of whom should be included.
