While the parties supporting the UPA government from outside have not joined ranks with the BJP,they seem to be maintaining distance from the ruling combine in the wake of the CAG report on coal block allocation.
This came to the fore on Wednesday with senior SP and RJD leaders crticising the Congresss decision to target the CAG.
The attack on CAG is inappropriate. The CAG,in its wisdom, has given a report. You may agree or disagree. But just because the findings do not suit you,it is inappropriate to attack it, RJD vice-president and Lok Sabha MP Raghuvansh Prasad told The Indian Express.
SP general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Mohan Singh expressed similar sentiments. There is a procedure to process CAG reports. It is the right of Parliament to consider the CAG report through the PAC. Without waiting for the procedure to complete its course, attacking the CAG is not justified. This is a wrong approach, he said.
Both leaders disagreed with BJPs rejection of the governments offer to hold a debate on the issue in Parliament. The BJP should allow discussion in the House8230; Debate and inquiry is more necessary than disrupting the proceedings, said Prasad.
