With all political parties closing their doors, the Ansari brothers,Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari,Mohammadabad MLA Sibgatullah Ansari and and Maus jailed Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari, launched their own political outfit Quami Ekta Party in eastern UP on Sunday.

Afzal and Mukhtar, who were BSPs candidates from Ghazipur and Varanasi in the last Lok Sabha elections, were expelled by Mayawati in April. The Samajwadi Party, which they had deserted, was not keen on taking them back. And the the Congress and the BJP has always been against them.

Sibgatullah technically remains an SP MLA,although he had campaigned on behalf of his brother Mukhtar in Varanasi against senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi during the Lok Sabha polls.

Today,Quami Ekta Party opened its unit in Mau district. On August 14,it would open its Ghazipur unit, Sibgatullah told The Indian Express over phone.

Sibgatullah said his elder brother Afzal is in touch with several smaller political outfits like the Peace Party,Janwadi Party,Apana Dal and Bhartiya Samaj Party, which are active in eastern UP. The new political outfit would contest the next Assembly elections in eastern UP, he said. He denied that talks were on with Amar Singhs outfit Lok Manch.
