In a joint operation,the forest department and district police seized 17 quintals of antlers from a godown in Saharanpur district of Western Uttar Pradesh. This is the second time in this month alone that such a big quantity of antlers has been seized from the district.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Saharanpur Girish HV said the two catches indicate the presence of a gang operational in Western UP.
Earlier,on October 2,nine quintals of antlers was seized and three people were arrested in Saharanpur. Girish HV said,On a tip-off,we seized 17 quintals of antlers from godown . The antlers are of cheetal (spotted deer) and sambhar. The godown owner,however,managed to escape.
