The Supreme Court will hear on whether authorities can downgrade Annual Confidential Reports ACR of employees without prior notice.
A bench of Justices V S Sirpurkar and Mukundakam Sharma decided to examine the validity of such procedures on a special leave petition filed by an Armyman,challenging the governments decision to downgrade his ACR.
The apex court granted four weeks to the Army chief and Defence Ministry to explain their position.
The petitioner,Ashok Kumar alleged that authorities had neither served him notice nor given any reason before downgrading his ACRs.
Kumar,who joined the Army in 1985,claimed he held a good track record for the past 24 years.
