Salman launches MIFTA website

Salman Khan recently launched the website www.mifta.in in order to promote the first Marathi films and Theatre Awards that are being held in a three-day event from December 16 to 18 in Dubai.

Salman Khan recently launched the website http://www.mifta.in in order to promote the first Marathi films and Theatre Awards that are being held in a three-day event from December 16 to 18 in Dubai. It is a joint initiative of filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar’s banner Ashwami Films and travel company Raja-Rani Travels Pvt. Ltd. with the backing of Lavasa. Abhijeet Patil,Chairman,Raja-Rani Travels Pvt. Ltd.,said that while launching the website,Salman had some very nice things to say. “The actor said that ‘without Marathi I would not be alive today’. My mother is a Maharashtrian.’ He also stated that Hindi has a reach all over but Marathi films are not that fortunate. With MIFTA,he said,NRIs will now go to the theatres to watch Marathi films,” said Patil.

The website,designed by Prasad Ajgaonkar,Chairman,Indian Interactive Realities,is also an effort to introduce the younger generations to Marathi films. They can log on to Facebook that has the e-voting facility wherein one can cast their vote for the best film,best director,best actor,best actress,and best music director. Online voting is open up to December 10,2010.

“Amitabh Bachchan,whose critically-acclaimed film Vihir is to be showcased during the three-day event,has been gracious enough to accept our invitation to attend the function in Dubai,” stated Patil,adding that the next event will be held on September 3,2011 in London and at San Francisco in September 2012.
