The government on Wednesday said that Baba Ramdevs campaign against corruption was entirely political, backed by the RSS. The Centre said that in March this year the yoga guru had become a part of an anti-corruption front floated by one of the wings of the RSS and was acting as their front. The government also cautioned Ramdev on his statement regarding armed rebellion and said that they will be forced to take action against him.
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said,A resolution was passed by the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the RSS on March 10-13 at Puttur in Karnataka regarding the formation of an anti-corruption front with Baba Ramdev as its patron and K N Govindacharya as its convenor. Another decision was taken by the ABVP on May 12,2011 to float an organisation,Youth Against Corruption,to coordinate with Ramdev.
He said that similar circulars were issued on May 20,2011 by Suresh Joshi of the RSS to all swayamsevaks to render all possible cooperation to Ramdevs campaign. The VHP also issued such instruction to its office bearers. On being asked whether any investigation has been initiated regarding the business empire of Ramdevs associates, the Home Minister said,There will be time when we can take up these questions. However,he added that this is not an agitation by a yoga teacher.
This is a political agitation which is fully backed by the RSS and its front organisations8230; we will allow peaceful protests, but we will not allow anything that will trigger a conflagration, he said.
