Room with a foresight

As many of the newly appointed Ministers of State began the scramble for ministerial rooms,Prof K V Thomas, the lone MoS under Sharad Pawar, was spoilt for choice as he had one of three rooms which Pawars three MoS colleagues occupied in the previous regime to pick from. While Thomas surprised many in the ministry by choosing the room located the farthest from that of Pawars in Krishi Bhawan,he may have had a reason. Both his predecessors who occupied rooms closer to Pawar Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Taslimuddin of the RJD lost the elections while Kantilal Bhuria of the Congress who occupied the farthest room not only won but was upgraded to a Cabinet rank despite his indifferent performance in the ministry. Thomas,it seems, has his eyes on a third UPA Government.
