Ramsays back with a horror comedy

Filmmaker Shyam Ramsay is in the news for combining horror with comedy and thereby exploring a new genre.

The Ramsays have been synonymous with horror films over the last 30 years. And now filmmaker Shyam Ramsay is in the news for combining horror with comedy and thereby exploring a new genre. He said,Bachao is Indias first ever horror-comedy. Its a complete entertainer. I have seen people enjoying comedy and loving horror films even more. So I thought why not combine the two? He explained that Bachao is set against the backdrop of a films shoot. There are three lovable ghosts residing in the bungalow where the film is being shot. They do not harass the unit. But when weird things start happening,the unit is baffled and the shooting is stalled, he said.

Bachao was shot from January to June this year at a set that was specially erected at Mumbais Film City. Slated to release on September 17,it will be dubbed in Telugu and Tamil too. Produced by Gul K Achra,it stars new finds Karan Malik,Rufi Khan,Anushka and Rubina along with Shakti Kapoor,Sadashiv Amrapurkar and Tiku Talsania. The director,whose last two releases were Ghutan and Dhund -The Fog,said,We do not need big actors for our films. In fact,I enjoy making horror movies and believe that we have created this genre in Hindi cinema.
