The CBI Tuesday filed murder and conspiracy charges against senior BJP leader from Rajasthan,Gulab Chand Kataria,Andhra Pradesh IPS officer N Balasubramanyam and two others in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case of 2005.

Kataria is the leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly and was home minister in the Vasundhara Raje government. He is the second prominent BJP leader to be charged in the case after Amit Shah,a former minister of state for home in Gujarat.

After the chargesheet was filed,a magistrates court issued summons to Kataria and the three others to appear before it on June 4.

Rajasthan BJP president Vasundhara Raje said Kataria was being framed. These are false and baseless accusations against him. He is being framed out of political motive and malice. The party stands by him and will fight for justice, she said.
