Campaigning in Rajasthan,Rahul Gandhi today rubbished BJP chief ministerial candidate Vasundhara Rajes allegation that free medicines are poison.
Those medicines that need marketing, big companies benefit from them, they are not poison, but those medicines that do not need marketing are poison, Rahul said at a rally in Pushkar. He listed the achievements of the Ashok Gehlot-led government including the free medicine scheme besides power generation and pension scheme,as well as central schemes such as food security and right to information. The BJP alleges the Congress has not done any developmental work. I asked ministers to give me data and I have learnt that in the five years of our tenure we have made three times the length of roads that the BJP had made during its term, he said . The Barmer oil refinery will bring two lakh jobs.
He said the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh governments are in competition for which is more corrupt. He alleged that the BJP wants farmers to only work in the fields while a handful govern the country and fly in aeroplanes. We want the poor to fly in those aeroplanes and pilot them too, Rahul said. We understand that only roads and airports are not enough for the poor but they need food. Hence we have got the food security act so that no one goes to sleep hungry.
In Jodhpur, the region from where Gehlot contests,Rahul had to cut his speech short when people began to leave an already thin audience. He said the CM had brought in several universities including an IIT,an IIM and a National Institute of Fashion Technology, and is also in the process of getting the Metro rail on the lines of Delhi and Jaipur.
Rahul was accompanied by Sachin Pilot,Chandresh Kumari Katoch,C P Joshi, the partys state-in-charge Gurudas Kamat and Gehlot.
