Probe into irregularities in TN Assembly complex

The government order in this regard was issued on Wednesday.

Even as the former first family of Tamil Nadu is still reeling under the legal effects of the corruption taint connected to the 2G spectrum sale scam,the J Jayalalithaa-led government has fired a fresh salvo,announcing the appointment of a single member committee to probe into the allegations of irregularities over the construction of the multi-crore assembly-secretariat complex that was a pet project of the former chief minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi.

The government order in this regard was issued on Wednesday.

A former judge of the Madras High Court,Justice S Thangaraj was appointed as the committee of inquiry to look into the causes and circumstances leading to the alleged irregularities like excess expenditure,irregularities causing loss to the exchequer among other charges. The commission will also inquire whether there was any lapse or abuse of position on the part of government officials or public servants.

It will have to submit its report in three months.
