Pranab is CPM mouthpiece: Trinamool

Prospects of an alliance between the Trinamool Congress and the Congress before the Lok Sabha polls appear bleaker with each passing day. To make it worse, top Trinamool leaders on Sunday questioned the credibility of senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee, and called him the ruling CPIMs mouthpiece.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly,Partha Chatterjee, said WBPCC chief Mukherjee was siding with the CPIM against the people of Bengal.

The scathing attack came just hours after Mukherjee attended the foundation-laying function of East West Metro Corridor along with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and said that halting development for political gains is harmful for the people.

Although Chatterjee made the comments at a press conference at Mamata Banerjees Kalighat residence, the Trinamool chief was herself absent.

Our Bengals hero Mukherjee is acting as one of the votaries of the CPIM. He is also sharing the pipe with the CPIM. Where was he when people were killed in Nandigram? Why was he absent in Singur when Tapasi Malik died? He is not with the people of Bengal, but is siding with the CPIM and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, said Chatterjee, flanked by party leaders Sudip Bandopadhyay and Mukul Roy.

Chatterjee said that both Mukherjee and the CPIM were on a spree laying the foundation of various projects just before the elections and added: In the 32 years of CPIM rule how many projects have materialised?
