Continuing his tirade against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail,Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called him Singham (a tough policeman played by Ajay Devgn in a movie) for foreigners.
Addressing a gathering during his Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra at Karjan in central Gujarat,Modi said the PM remembers the coalition dharma when asked to probe alleged corruption in his government, but shows bravery when it comes to taking decisions that help foreigners.
The first time he showed courage was while signing a nuclear treaty with America. He then said,Let my government go and whether allies agree or not,I will sign this treaty. And the media made him Singham, Modi said. What is the reason that when it comes to joining hands with foreigners, you leave your (coalition) friends to become Singham?
In Bhavnagar,Modi called the PM a weakling. Attacking UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the Chief Minister said,Mr PM,I want to ask you as to how many of those businessmen coming from abroad are from Italy? How much FDI is coming from Italy? In how many cities are people from Italy putting up their shops? How many people from Italy are getting jobs in India?
