Pepper,jeera fall on sluggish demand

Marketmen said subdued export and domestic demand against increased arrivals from growing regions,led to a fall in pepper and jeera prices.

Black pepper and jeera prices fell up to Rs 500 per quintal in the national capital today,largely due to weak local and export demand against fresh arrivals.

Black pepper prices fell by Rs 500 to conclude at Rs 31,800-32,400 per quintal due to sluggish demand from overseas buyers as well as increased supplies.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also declined by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 14,400-14,500 and Rs 18,000-18,500 per quintal,respectively on higher output expectations this season on the back of increased area under cultivation in Gujarat.

Ajwain 10,000-16,000,black pepper common 31,800-32,400,betelnut kg 195-200,cardamom brown-Jhundiwali kg 750-760,and cardamom brown-Kanchicut kg 840-1,100.

Cardamom small kg: Chitridar 450-475,cardamom colour robin 480-490,cardamom bold 490-500,cardamom extra bold 640-650 and cloves kg 725-900.
