A week after academicians across the country wrote to the Bihar government on the two accused in the Papiya Ghosh murder case being still at large, the state Government has set up a special team to arrest the two absconders.

Ghosh,a Patna University professor, and her domestic help Malti were killed at the professors Pataliputra Colony residence on December 3,2006. In September last year,a Patna fast-track court convicted five people, including a lawyer,in connection with the twin murder.

Bihar police spokesperson,Additional Director General of Police Headquarters Neelmani told The Indian Express: We share the concern of friends and well-wishers of Papiya Ghosh. We have received communication regarding two absconders from the CM office.

Neelmani said Patna Senior Superintendent of Police R M Viji had been asked to set up a special team to arrest the absconders Sanjog Rai and Mustkin Mia. The court, after having issued non-bailable warrants against the two,had got their property attached. Neelmani said the absconders would be arrested soon.

On June 26,the Purnujjal Papiya Ghosh Memorial Trust, being run by the professors sister T Kumar,an IAS officer, wrote to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, demanding the immediate arrest of the two absconders. Fourteen academicians across the country signed the letter expressing their concern for delayed justice to two innocent women.
