The recent investigation and raids by the CBI leading to the arrest of former director general of the Ordnance Factory Board on charges of taking bribes from foreign firms has shaken up South Block. While Sudipta Ghosh, who retired as the DG OFB in April,is the biggest fish in the net, another person who was questioned and raided by the CBI has raised more eyebrows. Ramesh Nambiar, the regional director of Air-India from whom the CBI recovered Rs 23 lakh in the raids,is the patron of a Delhi-based Kerala organisation called Kala Keralam that organises several functions frequented attended by top Kerala bureaucrats holding high-profile positions in Delhi. Another buzz doing the rounds is that Ghosh never cut the grade to be appointed as the DG OFB but was helped to the post by West Bengal political connections.
