Although the Congress has stood by Omar Abdullah through the rough and tumble of state politics over the past seven months, the young Jammu amp; Kashmir Chief Minister seems to be losing his goodwill in Delhi. While Congress leaders were ready to cite inexperience and impatience of youth to defend his mishandling of Shopian case and also his recent offer of resignation following allegations by the Opposition, the ruling party at the Centre is now taking a hard look at his functioning. In public meetings,Congress leaders find him busy on his mobile, quite unmindful of the proceedings. What has also caused discomfort in the corridors of power are Omars weekend visits to the Capital ostensibly on official assignments. The Chief Ministers family stays in New Delhi. Incidentally, his father Farooq Abdullah, who is a minister at the Centre, can be quite often spotted in Jammu these days.
