The Jammu University has charged the son of the Political Adviser to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who holds a Cabinet ministers rank, with cheating in his Law degree exams, even as another state minister and a former minister continued to face public heat over their alleged involvement in a racket involving impersonators taking the entrance test for MBBS and BDS seats in two private colleges here on Saturday.

Senior university officials, who did not want to be named, said the latest case to emerge involved Yunis Mubarak, the son of Mubarak Gul. Yunis was appearing for the Transfer of Property Act paper last week when university invigilation staff allegedly caught him cheating. The staff registered a case of unfair means against him.

The JU Controller of Examination,Prof G M Bhat, refused to say anything in the matter.

Gul,when contacted, admitted that Yunis had to clear some Law papers, but said he was in Srinagar. He denied any knowledge in the matter.

This came even as protests continued in Jammu city on Monday, with protesters demanding registration of a police case against Roads and Buildings Minister G M Saroori and former minister Ram Pal for their alleged involvement in the impersonation racket. A group of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists led by their state president Munish Sharma held a protest, alleging that the impersonators were hired by Saroori and Pal to ensure the selection of their wards to MBBS and BDS courses.
