Following the killing of five Indian soldiers in an ambush by Pakistani troops near the LoC,there was no exchange of sweets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr between the two sides at Chakkan Da Bagh in Poonch Friday.
Pointing out that this has been the first time that the two sides did not exchange pleasantry on Eid ever since the opening of the cross-LoC meeting point, sources said Pakistan had already got it closed for 13 days beginning August 6 for Eid holidays. However, the same morning, its special troops along with terrorists ambushed an Indian patrol in the area killing five soldiers and injuring one.
Meanwhile, the exchange of pleasantry on Eid between Border Security Force and Pakistani Rangers at octroi post in Suchetgarh sector near Jammu remained a low-key affair. Though both sides exchanged sweets on the occasion, there was no shaking of hands between officials from both the sides, the sources said.
