At a time when big brother CPI(M) has entered the cyberspace to lure the net-savvy voting population,the CPI is still sticking to the conventional methods of vote canvassing. CPI leaders admit in private that the reason is not ideological,but financial. Woefully short of funds,the CPI has not commissioned any of the firms that conduct the e-mail,SMS and MMS campaigns for other national parties. However,party leaders put up a brave face in public,saying that they dont believe in the new-age technologies and that the CPIs mainstay is the working class which is ideologically committed to it anyway.
