At a time when big brother CPI(M) has entered the cyberspace to lure the net-savvy voting population,the CPI is still sticking to the conventional methods of vote canvassing. CPI leaders admit in private that the reason is not ideological,but financial. Woefully short of funds,the CPI has not commissioned any of the firms that conduct the e-mail,SMS and MMS campaigns for other national parties. However,party leaders put up a brave face in public,saying that they don’t believe in the new-age technologies and that the CPI’s mainstay is the working class which is ideologically committed to it anyway.
