Basus condition remains critical

KOLKATA: The condition of 95-year-old CPM patriarch Jyoti Basu,admitted to a private hospital with pneumonia,continued to remain critical on Saturday night. Basus condition deteriorated in the morning with multi-organ involvement. His condition remains the same as in the morning, private AMRI Hospital Executive Director D N Agarwal told reporters.

Soren inducts nine ministers

RANCHI :Two days after winning the vote of confidence,chief minister Shibu Soren on Saturday inducted nine ministers into his Cabinet. Every minister will get a portfolio soon,Soren said. Hazi Hussain Ansari,Hemlal Murmu and Mathura Mahato of the JMM,Badkunwar Gagarai,Neelkanth Singh Munda and Baidyanath Ram of the BJP, Uma Kant Rajak and Chandra Prakash Choudharyof the AJSU and Sudha Choudhary of the JDU,the lone woman minister,were inducted in the Cabinet.

BSF retaliates to Pakistan fire

ATTARI PUNJAB: Pakistani forces fired six rockets in villages around the Attari border early on Saturday,drawing retaliatory fire from the BSF. We heard 2-3 explosions but the rockets which fell near the outpost did not explode. We have no report of any damage to property or death, BSF IG Himmat Singh said.

Seven rescued in building collapse

MUMBAI: A portion of an over century-old five-storeyed building here collapsed today,fire brigade officials said. The 115-year-old Ray Chambers,near the Dockyard Road railway station in south Mumbai,came down and seven tenants in the building were trapped on the top floor,the officials said.
