Pakistan has approached France-based Interpol for a Red Corner notice against former President Pervez Musharraf,seeking his arrest and extradition to the country over his alleged involvement in the assassination of ex-Premier Benazir Bhutto.
The Interior Ministry has forwarded the request to the Interpol Secretariat through the global police organisations representative in Pakistan,the Dawn newspaper reported Sunday,quoted sources.
Federal Investigation Agency FIA prosecutor,Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali,said a letter had earlier been sent to the Director of Interpol Pakistan by the officer leading the probe into Bhuttos assassination in 2007. The request states Musharraf,who has been living in self-exile in Dubai and Britain,is an accused in the case.
Jilani assumes charge as Paks Foreign Secy
Islamabad: Top Pakistani diplomat Jalil Abbas Jilani has assumed charge as Pakistans Foreign Secretary,replacing Salman Bashir on his retirement. Bashir,who served as Foreign Secretary from 2008 to 2012,has been named Pakistans new High Commissioner to India and is expected to take up the post next month. Jilani was expelled by India in 2003 after being accused of funnelling funds to Kashmiri separatists.
Marriage row: Pak woman paraded naked
Lahore: A group of over three dozen men stripped a woman and paraded her naked around a village in Punjab province after accusing her son of forcibly marrying a girl,police officials said Sunday. According to an FIR lodged with the police,over the men of Gopang tribe raided the home of Manzooran Mai in Khundai village of Muzaffargarh district on Saturday and took the woman away.
