The police have unearthed a nexus between militants and employees of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited,who were allegedly providing subscribers identity module SIM cards and wireless local loop WLL phones to top militant commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba LeT operating in several areas of North Kashmir.
Police spokesperson Imran Farooq said that BSNL employee Sajad Ahmad Dar 22 of Sangrampora has been detained for providing 10 SIM cards and WLL phones to militants.
More arrests will be made in the coming days, he said. Officials said some of the SIM cards and WLL phone were being used by one of Hizbuls top commanders in Kashmir,Abdul Qayoom Najar.
