A mentally challenged man hacked his two minor daughters when they were sleeping and later injured his wife who tried to save the girls at his house in Thariaon area of Fatehpur district Monday. The police said Akshay Pratap Singh alias Ranu (25),a resident of Rampur Imadpur village,attacked his two daughters Kashish (6) and Kallo (4),who were sleeping on the first floor,with a cleaver (gandasa) at 2 am. When his wife Sheela came there hearing the cry of the girls,Singh attacked her as well but she ran away from the house. Both the girls suffered injuries in their necks and died on the spot,while Sheela is being treated for her injuries,the police said. Thariaon Station Officer Manoj Pathak said Singh had been undergoing treatment for mental illness in a hospital in Thariaon and he was brought home on Saturday.
