Following the BSPs failure to open its account in Uttarakhand in the Lok Sabha election, the party has dissolved all its district units in the state. The party has also suspended two of its legislators in the Assembly,Kazi Nizamuddin and Chaudhary Yashveer Singh,on charges of anti-party activities.
Confirming this, the partys state unit president Suraj Mal said,We increased our vote share in the polls, but could not convert it into a victory. We were front-runners in three seats Nainital,Tehri and Hardwar but polarisation of votes worked against us.
Nizamuddin, who is the sitting legislator from Mangalore segment in Hardwar district, said that he had not received any communication regarding his suspension. I have no information on this and I have not indulged in any anti-party activity. Let me get a communication from the party and only then can I react on it, he said.
Apparently, his absence from the party chief Mayawatis rally in Hardwar earned him the wrath of the party. He had demanded that Mayawati announce publicly that the BSP will have no truck with the BJP in the post-poll scenario. He had said that since he was seeking votes in the name of secularism, voters will feel cheated if the party entered into a post-poll alliance with the BJP. When the state leadership expressed its inability to ask Mayawati to make such an announcement,he had abstained from attending her rally.
Chaudhary Yashveer Singh, who is the legislator from Jhabrera, was not available for comments.
Despite having established itself as a contender in three of the five constituencies in the state, the BSP had failed to win even a single seat.
