Mahima Patel receives threats on PIL

Mahima Patel,son of former Karnataka Chief Minister late J H Patel,and another today lodged a police complaint on receiving threats over PIL,police said.

Mahima Patel,son of former Karnataka Chief Minister late J H Patel,and another today lodged a police complaint on receiving threats over PIL,police said.

In their complaint filed before City Police Commissioner Jyothi Prakash Mirji,Mahima and Ganesh Kaundinya alleged that they had been receiving threats over phone over a PIL they filed before the High Court in connection with house building cooperative societies,police sources said.

According to the complaint,while Mahima had been warned of dire consequences if did not withdraw the PIL,Ganesh had been receiving calls threatening to elminate him along with his family members in case he failed to withdraw the PIL.

Mahima,a Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member,and Ganesh are petitioners in the PIL filed last year seeking quashing of a government order which allows an associate member of a house building cooperative society to be eligible for allotment of sites,which is still pending before the High Court.

The duo in their PIL has also sought for independent probe into the alleged violations and land grabbing by house building cooperative societies to the extent of about Rs three lakh crore.
