Chile plane crashes,all 21 on board die
SANTIAGO: A Chilean air force plane with 21 people aboard,including local television host Felipe Camiroaga,crashed in the ocean near the Juan Fernandez islands off the countrys Pacific coast,authorities said. Rescuers were searching for the plane but the mayor,Leopoldo Gonzalez,said the accident must be accepted as a fact.
Taliban say responsible for kidnapping children
Islamabad: Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan TTP on Saturday claimed responsibility for kidnapping a group of over 30 boys,who had strayed into Afghanistans eastern Kunar province as reports said some of them had escaped and reached back to their homes. TTP spokesman Ehsanulah Ehsan said they kidnapped the youth as their parents were helping the Pakistan army in their drive against it.
Angela Merkels father,85,passes away
Berlin: German Chancellor Angela Merkels father,a Protestant pastor who moved with his family to communist East Germany in the 1950s,has died. He was 85. The government said that Horst Kasner passed away on Friday. It didnt give further details.
California man bites pet python,arrested
New York: A man in the US state of California has reportedly been arrested for biting his pet python,leaving the snake seriously hurt. David Senk 54 was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully maiming a pet reptile in the city of Sacramento late on Friday,the BBC quoted police as saying. The python is recovering after emergency surgery.
