SBI system crashes,branches open today

Mumbai: Business transactions at the branches of State Bank of India SBI across the country were hit on Saturday due to a satellite link failure,much to the inconvenience of lakhs of customers. The nations largest lender,SBI,in a statement said all its branches will remain open for normal business on Sunday,even though it is a national holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti,to account for the loss of working hours on Saturday.

BJP worker hurls slipper at minister

BANGALORE: A BJP worker was held for allegedly verbally abusing and throwing a slipper at Housing Minister V Somanna in the state secretariat on Saturday. The police said the man allegedly verbally abused Somanna too.

Ashish Bagga is new INS president

Bangalore: Ashish Bagga of India Today has been elected president of The Indian Newspaper Society for the year 2011-12 at its 72nd annual general meeting here. He succeeds Kundan R Vyas of the Janmabhoomi Group.
