Two arrested for honour killing
RAMNAGAR: Police arrested two persons for allegedly killing Deepika,a resident of Thimmasandra village,and her four-month-old child,in what is believed to be a case of honour killing. Deepikas parents had allegedly tricked her to visit them. She did on February 27 and was killed,along with her child. The arrested are her mother Gowramma and grandfather,police said.
Try Toshas killer in India,say father
VADODARA: Father of Tosha Thakkar,an Indian student who was raped and murdered by an Australian of Sri Lankan origin in Sydney,has demanded the accused be tried in an Indian court. I raise this demand to ensure severe punishment is meted out to the person, Sunil Thakkar said after Toshas body was brought here Friday night.
Cops: Have collected Batchas call records
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Police have collected for analysis call details of former Union telecom minister A Rajas aide Sadiq Batcha,who was found dead on Wednesday,Chennai Police chief T Rajendiran said on Saturday. Rajendiran also said they have sent Batchas viscera samples for examination and are expecting the post-mortem report soon.
Pak court posts 26/11 hearing to March 26
ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi,which is trying the alleged perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks,including Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi,on Saturday put off till March 26 its ruling on a plea by prosecutors to declare Ajmal Kasab,the lone surving 26/11 attacker and Fahim Ansari,an Indian terror suspect,as 8220;proclaimed offenders8221; or fugitives in the case.
