Kandhamal nun rape case: SC stays trial

The Supreme Court stayed the trial of the alleged rape of a Christian nun during the 2008 Kandhamal riots,in Orissa

The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the trial of the alleged rape of a Christian nun during the 2008 Kandhamal riots,in Orissa,after the victim challenged the state High Courts disinclination to hear her plea to cross-examine a Sub-Divisional Magistrate a prosecution witness in the case.

A Bench,led by Justice Altamas Kabir,directed the Orissa government to respond to the nuns challenge. It posted the case for further hearing on March 22.
