Jaya Prada: UP orders probe into beacon row

The district administration on Monday instituted a probe on the removal of the red beacon from the vehicle of Rampur MP Jaya Prada

The district administration on Monday instituted a probe on the removal of the red beacon from the vehicle of Rampur MP Jaya Prada. The Additional District Magistrate and an Additional Superintendent of Police will jointly conduct the inquiry.

We have ordered a probe into the episode. The ADM and ASP will jointly conduct the inquiry, Umesh Kumar Singh,SP of Rampur,said.

On Saturday,Rampur Assistant Regional Transport Officer ARTO Kaushlendra Yadav removed the red beacon from Jaya Pradas vehicle. The action was taken at the MPs residence on Rahe Raza road in Civil Lines area of Rampur. Yadav also slapped a penalty of Rs 16,000 on Jaya Prada,giving her one months time to deposit the amount. Jaya Prada had termed the action as vindictive and gave a written complaint to SP Umesh Kumar Singh for lodging a case against the ARTO and the policemen who accompanied him.

Interestingly,Jaya Prada got support from Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agarwal,who condemned the ARTOs action.

Transport Minister Durga Prasad Yadav,however,maintained that his officials had apprised him that Jaya Prada was illegally using a red beacon with flasher but he will inquire into the matter.
