Moments after Team Indias exit from the World T20 Championship after a five-wicket loss to Sri Lanka, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said players need to take special care of themselves in tournaments such as the IPL where post-match parties follow hectic action on field. He said off-field commitments was one of the main reasons for fatigue.

Players need to be smart, not only about their cricket but also about other things going around in the IPL. We have to respect our body and give some time for it to recover because there is more to it than just playing matches. Attending parties and travelling takes a toll, Dhoni told a post-match press conference in St Lucia.

We are not performing to our potential. I cant say why8230; It gets tough without players like Virender Sehwag,Zaheer Khan and Praveen Kumar, said Dhoni, referring to players who picked up injuries during the IPL and World T20.

After a similar humiliation in the championship last year, coach Gary Kirsten had blamed Indias exit to injuries players had carried into the tournament.
