Inspiring young minds
When school students asked former President A P J Abdul Kalam how corruption should be tackled,among the many things he said was,Ask your father if he had made money illegally. At an interaction at Taurian School,attended by nearly 500 students and teachers,many solutions were discussed but it was Kalams exhortation that impressed them the most. One student sent an SMS Corruption is a common cause. Protest against it must begin at every home to a friend in Delhi and asked him to pass it on to as many others as possible.
Battle for Jamshedpur
The BJP and the JMM,allies in the ruling coalition,are on a collision course over the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat,vacant since Chief Minister Arjun Munda relinquished it after winning the Kharsawan Assembly bypoll. JMM president Shibu Soren has indicated his partys keenness to contest from Jamshedpur. In 2009,the BJPs Munda had unseated the JMMs Suman Mahato from Jamshedpur. Munda now wants the ticket given to Mangal Singh Soy as a reward for resigning as Kharsawan MLA. Soren is learnt to be keen to field either Sudhir Mahato or Suman Mahato. The prospect of a vote split faces the Opposition,too,with both the Congress and the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha keen to contest.
Jharkhands version of IPL
On the lines of the Indian Premier League IPL comes the Jharkhand Premier League. The M S Dhoni Charitable Trust an organisation floated by the India captain,Rhiti Sports Management P Ltd and Aircel are gearing up to hold the weeklong event from March 13. There will be five teams : Bokaro Bulls,Jamshedpur Jaanbaz,Dhanbad Diamond,Ranchi Rangers and Singhbhum Sher. Each team will have a unique franchise and uniform; there will be cheerleaders too.
