To provide seed money for new research ideas across institutions, the Union Human Resource Development Ministry on Monday decided to set up an incubation fund. The move was announced by HRD minister Pallam Raju at the International Workshop on Industry-Academia collaboration for Greater National Productivity organised by the Conference of Indian Industry.
The ministry has also plans to set up research parks in 10 institutes.
Replicating the model of the research park of IIT-Madras,the initial funding will come from the government. But the institute will later be expected to raise resources from the market on its own.
Noting the need to enhance employability,Raju emphasized upon the need for greater collaboration with industry to fund research activities, skill development, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The HRD ministry will also soon launch the National Employability Enhancement Mission NEEM through AICTE,a framework for companies and entrepreneurs to provide employability skills and internship as value-added proposition to students across fields.
